ITV Documentary Follows The Life Of TYSON FURY: THE (COMEBACK) GYPSY KING

By March 9, 2020 No Comments
The comeback king may just be the more fitting title for the now WBC heavy weight champion and self-anointed Gypsy King.

Produced by Optomen Television, TYSON FURY: THE GYPSY KING offers exclusive, behind-the-scenes access to one of sport’s most flamboyant and controversial characters Tyson Fury (The Gypsy King) and his nearest and dearest. The Show follows Tyson’s preparations to take on his arch-rival Deontay Wilder for a second time as he aims to fulfil his dream of becoming the heavyweight boxing champion.

ENVY Dubbing Mixer Ben Ormerod Said: “A large significance was placed on pre title, the brief for this was to create a cinematic/movie style opening sequence; a heavy contrast from the documentary chic in the subsequent footage.

The show cuts between Tyson’s life, his training camps and action sequences from inside the ring. To really bring each scene to life I manipulated the acoustics and sounds to compliment the different styles of footage and make them easily distinguishable from one another. . The bout scenes are heavily driven by music accompanied by hyperbolised fight sounds designed to re-create/capture the fast pace and powerful atmosphere within the ring. Alternatively when following Tyson’s life the auditory theme becomes sensitive & observational; in a way we’re guiding the viewer’s experience and emotions via the mix.

In addition it was equally important to make all the dialogue comprehensible and as smooth as possible. After EQ’ing out as much of the unwanted noise as possible I used izotopes rx software to clean the dialogue.”

ENVY Online Editor David Preece: ” The show was incredibly beautifully shot and we’re over the moon with the final product. The sound design, grade and on-line complement each other to enhance the stunning footage and match the energy of the production & an exuberance of Tyson Fury.

Throughout the documentary the show cuts back and forth between newly shot footage & archive, incorporating fight shots from BT Sport. My job was to combine the aforementioned media to achieve a progressive, fluid and congruent final edit.

Additionally to enhance the visual experience I implemented subtle yet effective details, for example the addition of a glint in Tyson’s eye during the opening cinematic. Likewise we carefully selected the subtitle / title styles & ensured that their positioning and accompanying drop shadows remained consistent throughout. Every process and detail was carefully thought out and implemented to produce the best possible finish”
