On Tuesday the 6th of February, we filled a taxi with 3 Runners, the Client Services Management Team and a couple of ENVY Banners. Heading to the RTS Futures Careers Fair, we unpacked and set up our stall and patiently waited for over 1000 students to arrive.
Spending the day at the fair, we welcomed students as they approached us to talk about careers in television and more specifically, Post Production. We took the opportunity to show off our staff, facilities and projects that we have been working on over the last year.
Our main goal was to invite University students and graduates into ENVY, allowing us to give them an insight into the various roles, workflows and structure of a Post House.
ENVY leapt at the opportunity to return to the fair for a second year due to the first year being so fruitful. Last year we exhibited at the RTS Futures Career Fair and had amazing results; 50 students and graduates were awarded work experience placements at ENVY in 2017. Proving to be hard-working, passionate individuals we offered 9 of these placements full-time positions as Runners and they have continued to progress. Within the year 5 of them had been promoted, 3 are currently Head Runners and 2 have joined our Front of House Team.
ENVY thrives on its homegrown talent, most employees join the company in a Runner role. This department (Client Services) makes up over a fifth of the company’s employees. Once fully trained, Runners are invited to manage their own progression at the company with the help of the ENVY Academy. Taking strides to ensure that our Runners get a taste for every corner of Post Production they are shown how and where they can progress within the company. Having trained in the appropriate area, our Runners usually progress within 8 months.
This year, we have already had 24 applications (and counting) for work experience from the RTS Futures Career Fair.
