12/10/2018 | ENVY Carries Out Full Post On BBC’s ‘Mediterranean With Simon Reeve’

In a new four-part series from BBC Current Affairs, Simon Reeve embarks on an epic journey around the Mediterranean, uncovering the wild extremes that lie behind the tourist veneer. The ENVY team were thrilled to have provided full post for the series.

The Mediterranean is the birthplace of western civilisation, and attracts more than 300 million tourists every year. But it is also once again at the centre of global conflict, and as well as revealing the region’s beauty, Mediterranean with Simon Reeve sets out to explore its dark side.

Simon journeys to countries like Malta, where he explores money-laundering and organised crime, and Albania, where Simon uncovers an ancient culture of revenge – where if an adult commits a crime, a child could be killed for it. The series also sees Simon travel around the Eastern Mediterranean, from the island of Cyprus to the troubled Middle East, before crossing North Africa and ending his journey on the more familiar coasts of Spain and France.

ENVY Dubbing Mixer Matt Skilton said, “One challenged we faced in the mix was that Simon doesn’t travel with a sound recordist – it’s just him and his cameraman. So naturally we had some cleaning up to do in terms of audible muffles and clicks etc. We were really pleased with the end result; the music, in particular – which was specially composed for the series – is lovely.”

“One challenged we faced in the mix was that Simon doesn’t ALWAYS travel with a sound recordist – it’s just him and his cameraman – and sometimes he travels incognito, using iPhones and domestic cameras. So naturally we had some cleaning up to do in terms of audible muffles and clicks etc. We were really pleased with the end result; the music, in particular – which was specially composed for the series – is lovely.”

Watch it: Sundays at 8pm on BBC Two. Catch up on episode 1 and 2 here.
